Lion attacks trainer in Ukraine circus

Lviv, Oct 5: A circus routine in Lviv, Ukraine went terrible wrong on Saturday, Oct 2 when two lions mauled a tamer in front of a huge audience.

The trainer, identified as Oleksie Pinko, was attacked by two lions despite his attempts to keep the attacking beast away with a steel rod.

American tourist, Doug Sheperd, who was present at the show with his family, captured the attack.

The video shows the lion roaring, lunging and striking, and another lion joins in, biting down on the trainer's left arm, CBS News reported.

"Kids are screaming, and kids are only 10ft away and (my family was) probably 35ft away," Mr Sheperd told CBS.

"I was just grabbing my daughter and trying to run because I thought that they were going to come out," Masha Shepherd said while recalling the incident.

This comes a month after another lion attack was reported from MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada. The video of a lion at MGM Grand attacking its trainer emerged in Sep 2010.
