Rouvanjit case: La Martiniere principal arrested

On Feb 12, 2010, class 8 student, Rouvanjit Rawla committed suicide by hanging himself, after being caned by the principal.
After his death, Rounjavit's father had filed a complaint against the school principal and three teachers for subjecting his son to corporal punishment.
An inquiry was started in Jun, 2010, by the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), which is an autonomous body under the Central government.
The inquiry founded that the principal Sunirmal Chakravarti and three teachers, Garnian, Partho Dutta and David Raun, as guilty.
Rounjavit's father Ajay Rawla said, "all that we are praying for is that those who tormented our child and treated him so badly should be punished and an example must be set so that no other child is treated this way."
