Aircraft makes emergency landing after bomb threat

Singapore Airlines
Kolkata, Oct 4: A Singapore Airlines flight, made an emergency landing at Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport, at 11:39 pm on Sunday, Oct 3, following a bomb threat in the aircraft.

The captain of Singapore Airlines flight, immediately contacted air traffic control at Delhi airport, when he was informed about a threat.

But the Delhi ATC denied permission to land the aircraft in Delhi airport, as the airport authority does not wanted any panic among foreign participants and delegates at CWG due to such situations.

However, later the captain was directed to Kolkata.

Then the Airlines was finally permitted to land in the Kolkata airport. Even Singapore Airlines staff in the airport were alerted and asked to prepare for evacuating passengers from the aircraft.

After landing, all the 250 passengers and 15 crew members were evacuated immediately, and the bomb detection and disposal squad was pressed into service.
