Centre to appoint interlocutors for JK issue

New Delhi, Oct 1:As the decision over the Jammu and Kashmir issue seems unending, the Centre has declared that a group of interlocutors will be appointed to hold a “sustained dialogue" with various shades of opinion.

After the visit of all-party delegation to the state, they have approved an eight-point plan which also includes appointment of interlocutors.

When asked when the appointment will be done, Mr Chidambaram said, “That will be done... Can"t give you a time limit. Our intentions is to do it very early."

These interlocutors under the chairmanship of an eminent person will begin the dialogue with all sections of the people of the Valley, including including political parties, groups, youth and student organisations, civil society organisations and other stake holders.

Minister of State Prithviraj Chavan said the names of the interlocutors will be announced in "due time."

"It is being thought of. It is the part of ongoing process. It cannot be done in just one day," he said.
