Google doodle fetes Flintstone's 50th anniversary

New York, Sep 30: The saga of 'Google Doodle' continues. The search engine giant Google is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Flintstone by designing a new Google doodle on the home page on Thursday, Sep 30.

Flintstones is one of the world"s most loved cartoon series. It was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, owners of the famed Hanna-Barbera Productions, on Sep 30, 1960. Flintstones cartoon series was one of the successful animated American sitcom and was telecasted on ABC from Sep 30, 1960 to Apr 1, 1966.

The Flintstones series portrayed a working class Stone Age man"s life with his family, his next door neighbor and best friend. Despite the show ended in 1966, Flintstones continue to be shown in various television channels. Later in 2000, based on Flintstones theme, a movie called Viva Rock Vegas was also released.

The famous characters in Flintstones, Barney, Fred, Wilma, Pebbles, and Dino are regarded as most loved cartoon characters through out the world. The Flintstones doodle will be shown on the Google home page for the whole day of Sep 30, 2010.

Google Inc celebrates special moments with their Google doodles. Doodles are known as the decorative changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists and scientists. Over the past 12 years Google has created more than 900 doodles to mark different celebrations and special moments.
