Maoist shutdown hit transport services in Ranchi
Ranchi, Sep. 30 (ANI): A 24-hour shutdown called by the Maoists here, has led to huge losses to transport business on Thursday.
The Maoists declared a shutdown after a massive anti-Maoist operation was launched jointly by police of Jharkhand and Orissa in the Saranda jungles of West Singhbhum district, in which three personnel of the Jharkhand COBRA Force and 12 Maoists were killed.
People are facing a tough time due to cut down in the numbers of trains and buses.
Sukhdev Khariya, a passenger who has been stranded said people visit the State for their work and these strikes create problems for them.
The transporters too are badly affected.
"These (shutdown calls) badly hit our work as well as income. But we cannot do anything about it, just we have to obey the orders," said Rajiv Singh, a bus driver. By Girija Shankar Ojha (ANI)
