Disneyland Muslim woman employee agrees to wear beret over hijab to end standoff
California, Sep 30(ANI): A Muslim woman employed by Disneyland in California has agreed to wear a beret over her hijab at work after the theme park objected to her religious headscarf.
The Council on American-Islamic relations said that Noor Abdallah, who works as a vacation planner at a Disneyland Resort Esplanade ticket booth, reached a compromise with the theme park as she refused to take another job away from the public.
The 22-year-old now wears a blue scarf partially covered by a beret. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has a long history of accommodating a variety of religious requests from cast members of all faiths - with more than 200 accommodations made over the last three years and this instance was no different," The Daily Mail quoted Disney spokesman Suzi Brown, as saying in a statement.
Brown further said that the case is separate from that of another Muslim Disney worker who refused to accept a costume headpiece and filed a federal discrimination complaint. (ANI)
