Kolkata, Sep 29 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has alleged that the Central Government has not release the funds due to the State under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

Addressing a public meeting here on Tuesday, Bhattacharjee said: The state is due a sum of rupees 1700 crore whereas the Central government had been releasing pittance amount of just 100 or 150 crore.

He contended that the West Bengal government was not begging for any favour from the Central Government but seeking it's due entitled amount.

"The central government's law that create scopes for jobs in the villages. The government is not giving us the money, which is our entitlement, we deserve rupees 1,700 crore. We have worked but the money is not coming. Our minister Anisur Rahman and Bankim Ghosh had gone to Delhi and asked the government to release the money as we are entitled rupees.1, 700 crore. But some times you (Central Government) are giving us rupees 100 crore, sometimes rupees 150 crore. Are you (Government of India) showing kindness. Are we begging for money?" he asked.

He also charged the role of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for unleashing violence against the supporters of Left Front.

"The opposition's behaviour is so undisciplined. Now they have chosen the offices of the Village Council as their targets, they are trying to close the offices, forcing the elected representatives of the Village Councils to resign. They are forcing to do all this. Can we tolerate all these? Never, we will never accept this," he said.

He appealed the people to not to be influenced by the antics of Trinamool Congress. (ANI)
