French MEP Rachida Dati confuses fellatio with inflation
London, Sept 27 (ANI): French politician Rachida Dati has had to issue an apology after she made an embarrassing blunder by confusing fellatio with inflation.
Dati, 44, a former Justice Minister, who is frequently nicknamed "Rachida Barbie" because of her poor understanding of complicated political issues, made the mistake while talking on the national Europe 1 radio station.
On the show she was asked about overseas investment funds profiteering during a period of economic uncertainty.
"I see some of them looking for returns of 20 or 25 percent, at a time when fellatio is almost non-existent," the Daily Mail quoted her as saying.
The word fellatio in French is "fellation", which sounds a bit like inflation.
The MEP took to her Facebook site to apologize for the hugely embarrassing slip.
"This kind of thing happens if you speak too quickly on this kind of programme," she stated.
"It is unfortunate that this is the only political message that has been received on such a serious subject," she added. (ANI)
