Bihar polls: EC issues notification for 1st phase

In the first phase due Oct 21, polls will be held in 47 of 243 assembly constituencies.
The last date for filing nominations is Oct 4 and one can withdraw one"s name until Oct 7. The filing of nomination papers by candidates began Monday itself.
Polling would be held for Simri Bakhtiarpur and Mahishi between 7 am and 3 pm and for others between 7 am and 5 pm.
Among the constituencies going to polls in the first phase are flood-prone Kosi and Mithila.
The six-phase Bihar election will take place on Oct 21 (47 assembly constituencies), Oct 24 (45 constituencies), Oct 28 (48 constituencies), Nov 1 (42 constituencies), Nov 9 (35 constituencies) and Nov 20 (26 constituencies).
