Kasab to hear his fate through video conference

Ajmal Kasab
Mumbai, Sep 26: The Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab will hear the proceedings in Bombay High Court pertaining to confirmation of death sentence imposed on him for his role in the 26/11 attack through video conferencing.

The daily hearing of the case in Bombay HC will begin in Oct 18, 2010 and before that the work for enabling video conference link in high security Central Prison will be finished. Earlier Bombay HC asked Maharashtra government to provide a video conference facility.

"We are making arrangements for a video conference facility near the cell of Kasab so that the security provided to him is not exposed to any risk," said officials.

The video conferencing facility in the court and the jail will enable Kasab to attend court proceedings without being physically present. Kasab is lodged in a special high security cell which is bullet and bomb proof and is segregated from other cells in the prison. The cell has been specially constructed along with a courtroom in adjacent barrack to deal anti-terror cases.
