CWG: PM snubs Gill, asks him to get the job done
When the Sports Minister got up to make a presentation on the Commonwealth Games in a Cabinet meet, the Prime Minister reportedly cut him off telling him that this was not the time to speak but the time to act and "get the job done".
“It"s time to act and get the job done," Dr Singh is quoted as saying.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stepped in to take stock of the Delhi Games preparations after several international delegates slammed India's lack of preparedness over the week.
The Prime Minister had also summoned Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna, NSA Shivshankar Menon and Cabinet Secretary KM Chandrasekhar and Mr Gill for a emergency meeting earlier.
At the meeting, Mr Reddy, whose ministry is responsible for the games related infrastructure, is learnt to have faced the flak for the sorry state of the stadia as well as the Athletes Village and most importantly the embarrassing collapse of the foot overbrige at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
