Bodhgaya (Bihar), Sep. 25 (ANI): Leading a 27-member delegation, Jigme Thinley, the Prime Minister of Bhutan, arrived in Bihar's Bodhgaya town to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Mahabodhi Society of India today.

During his three-days stay in Bodhgaya, he would participate in the one hundred and thirteenth AGM of the organisation as the chief guest. He will also meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on September 26.

The Society is a charitable organisation established in 1956 with the sole objective of reviving the teachings of Lord Buddha in the land of its origin, India. It is also dedicated to the welfare and humanitarian services of the masses.

The monastery in Bodhgaya, where Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment, is called the Mahabodhi Temple.

Nearly two-thirds of Bhutan's population follows Vajrayana Buddhism, which is the state religion, and about one-quarter of the populations are Hindus. By Surya Pratap Singh (ANI)
