Advani and Uma Bharti visit Somnath on Rath Yatra anniversary
Somnath (Gujarat), Sep 25 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani visited the Somnath temple in Gujarat along with former BJP leader Uma Bharti on Saturday.
The two leaders landed at Keshod airport in Junagadh district on Friday evening from where they left for Somnath to offer prayers at the temple.
Advani had started his rath yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya in 1990. The yatra commenced on September 25, 1990, and since then, Advani has been visiting the temple on its anniversary every year.
Security arrangements were stepped up for Advani's visit, with over 260 policemen deployed for the event.
It has been reported that Bharti's visit to the Somnath temple along with Advani is being seen as her possible return to the BJP soon. (ANI)
