End violence in JK immediately: UN

UN spokesperson stated that Ban also appealed for restraint by all parties in the tensed Kashmir.
"The secretary-general regrets the latest loss of life. He (Ban) calls for an immediate end to violence and urges calm and restraint by all concerned," informed the UN spokesperson.
UN sent an e-mail in Aug 2010 and in the mail Ban stated, "all concerned to exercise utmost restraint and address problems peacefully."
It also added, "Ban encourages both sides to rekindle the spirit of the composite dialogue."
However, after facing protest from the Indian government, UN withdrew the remarks and described it as "media guidance" and not a "statement by the secretary-general."
