Fanapi typhoon: 13 killed, 33 missing in China

Beijing, Sep 22: Flooding and landslides from Typhoon Fanapi killed 13 people in southern China and left 33 missing, an official said on Wednesday, Sep 22.

The typhoon hit Guangdong province after making a direct hit on the island of Taiwan on Sunday, Sep 19.

China's national meteorological center said Fanapi is the strongest typhoon to hit China in 2010. It forecast heavy rains for parts of central and western parts of Guangdong.

According to state run Xinhua Agency said, nearly 350 houses are submerged in water and many people are still missing.
