Bangalore, Sep 21: A bacterial infection had killed five tigers and eight others were infected in the city's Bannerghatta Biological Park over the past week.

As per CNN-IBN reports, all the animals are on antibiotics since the death of big cats.

M N Jayakumar, chief conservator of forests, said: “For about 11-12 days some animals are having diarrhea and vomiting. Seven to eight animals have been having this problem off and on."

Forest officials at the park are worried that the spread of the infection could affect tourist flow. So all infected tigers have been taken to a rescue centre for the speedy recovery.

Officials believe the infection could have spread from rotten meat. B K Singh, PCCF, said: “Probably during Ramzan, some bad meat must've been pushed here. We've not been able to find evidence yet, but we're trying our best to lay our hands on the exact reason.
