Palestine: Death for selling land to Israelis

Ramallah, Sep 20: Anyone found guilty of selling land to Israelis will face the gallows, a Palestinian court ruled on Monday, Sep 20.

According to the current law, courts can choose life in prison or death as punishment in such cases.

The court's ruling came in response to an appeal from Palestinian public prosecutor Ahmed al-Mughani, who believed that the law was not tough enough.

However, in the past there have been cases of vigilante killings of Palestinians suspected of selling land to Israelis.

Now, the question remains of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' approval as he has not approved a single execution since he took over in 2004.
