K'taka BJP leaders threaten suicide, resignations
The Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Goolihatti Shekar, who was one among the independents who helped BJP form its crucial first government in Karnatka in May 2008, has said that he is contemplating suicide.
“Suicide is not ruled out if I am dropped," he told media personnel.
While Minister for Public Libraries and Mass Education K Shivangouda Naik has threatened to quit the party if he was axed, Belur Gopalakrishna has warned of mass resignations.
“Around 20 BJP legislators will quit the party if I am not the minister," the cabinet berth aspirant said.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa along with state BJP chief KS Eshwarappa on Monday, Sep 20 flew to Delhi to meet BJP president, Nitin Gadkari to finalise the names of legislators to be included in the ministry and those to be dropped.
Mr Eshwarappa had earlier indicated that three or four ministers may be dropped during the re-shuffle. However, the Chief Minister maintained that there was no proposal to drop anybody while re-constituting the 34-member ministry.
