US troops kill Afghans, display them as trophies

Kabul, Sep 19: Among several allegations against the US troops in Afghanistan, one of the ghastliest is that the US troops killed Afghan civilians randomly and then kept their body parts as trophies.

The Washington Post reported that the killings were allegedly to have been carried out by members of a platoon from the 5th Stryker Combat Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division based in Kandahar province in southern Afghanistan.

According to investigators and legal documents, the killings began in 2009, when one Afghan man approached the soldier in the village of La Mohammed Kalay.

The report also stated that the army officials did not disclose reasons behind the killings.

However, the accused soldiers deny wrongdoing, the paper noted.
