Hurriyat postpones protest before army camps in JK

Jammu Kashmir map
Srinagar, Sep 19: After Jammu Kashmir government lifted curfew from the valley on Sep 18, Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, announced that they have postponed their plan to protest before the army camps in the state.

Holding a meeting of Majlis-e-Shoura (Advisory Council) of the Hurriyat in Srinagar, Geelani announced, "We have made changes in the schedule for protest on Sep 21."

The people should hold protest in all district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir in support of complete demilitarisation, instead of marching to army camps only in Srinagar, suggested Geelani.

However, A defence spokesperson had appealed to people not to pay heed to the Hurriyat programme which, he said, sought to drag the army into the sphere of law and order.
