BJP likely to move to SC over Babri verdict

Ahmedabad, Sep 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) decided to take steps about the Babri Masjid case after the Ayodhya verdict only, they may take the case to the Supreme Court if circumstances would demand, L K Advani stated on Sep 18.

Advani informed, "I have told my party MPs in the parliamentary party meeting that I would request you not to speculate. We will take a decision on what would be the reaction once the court verdict is out."

The Ayodhya title suit has been scheduled to be pronounced by the Allahabad high court on Sep 24.

Expecting trouble, the central government has appealed to all the parties to maintain peace before, after and during the verdict.

The senior BJP leader clearly stated, "My estimate is that the case will reach Supreme Court irrespective of in whomsoever's favour the court judgment is."

In 1990, Advani had taken out a rathyatra from Somnath in Gujarat to Ayodhya, which not only brought the focus of national politics on the Ramjanmabhoomi issue, but also helped BJP gain its status as a powerful political entity.
