Srinagar breathes easy on 4 hr curfew relaxation

Srinagar, Sep 18: A week after a curfew was clamped in Srinagar following the violence on Eid-ul-Fitr, southern and eastern parts of the city on Saturday, Sep 18 got a four hour relief.

A police spokesperson said that the curfew has been relaxed in South and East zones of the city from 12 noon to 4 pm.

However, Maisuma and Kralkhud police station areas falling in the East Zone saw no relaxation.

After an assessment of law and order situation, the curfew in other parts of the city will be relaxed, the police official added.

After the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers on Saturday, Sep 11, fresh violence erupted in the valley that has been reeling under protests and separatist campaign since three months.
