HTC unveils new smartphones, Desire HD & Desire Z

HTC claimed that the new smartphones will provide 20 percent better battery life and an enhanced version of the HTC Sense interface with improved mapping software, sound and multimedia capabilities. Manufacturer also told that both the smartphones use new chips from Qualcomm which deliver improved power efficiency and users can easily be able to go the whole day without needing to charge.
The new Desire HD has a 4.3-inch WVGA Super LCD display and a 8 megapixel camera with two flash which can shoot High Definition videos in 720p. It is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm processor which looks like a 45nm die shrink of the QSD8250. The phone provides better graphics performance with Adreno 205.
The Desire HD also has FM radio, PAM (Proximity, Ambient Light, Motion) sensors, digital compass, 768MB RAM and 1.5GB ROM. The connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi and aGPS.
The second smartphone launched is Desire Z, which is known as T-mobile G2 in the United States. It is powered with 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor and generous 512MB RAM, which will keep the underlying Android 2.2 OS smooth in operation.
Desire Z has a 3.7-inch 800 x 480 pixel capacitive screen complimented by a sliding QWERTY keyboard. It also has a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera with flash and support for 720p video recording.
The new security features on both smartphones will allow users who have lost their phone to see its location online, and send a message to their handset, potentially offering a reward for its return. Text messages can also be sent from the computer, using the phone"s number, and also archived like email.
