UN assembly meet to discuss on climate change

Washington, Sep 15: Climate change and clean energy issues would be the prime agenda in the United Nations General Assembly session in New York from Sep 20.

Representatives of 17 major world economies, including India, will meet in New York on Sep 20 and Sep 21.

The talks will be part of The Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate"s meeting at which the American delegation would be led by Special US envoy for Climate Change, Todd Stern.

Launched by US President Barack Obama, the Major Economies Forum facilitates a candid dialogue among major developed and developing economies to make progress in meeting the climate change and clean energy challenge, and to advance the exploration of concrete initiatives and joint ventures that increase the supply of clean energy while cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
