HCL bags deal to provide high-tech prison in India

New Zealand's department of corrections, which involves developing IT infrastructure for the prison system and applications for maintaining inmates' profiles, provided the contract to HCL.
The deal will have a 60 percent offshore component. As part of the deal, HCL's Noida centre will monitor offenders convicted for crimes like rash driving.
HCL official informed, "It's one of our largest deals in the Asia-Pacific. We are deploying about 400 people to work on the deal. About 60 percent of the work will be done offshore. We are diversifying in other geographies."
