Violence in JK: Education minister attacked by mob

Srinagar, Sep 12: A outraged mob assailed house of Jammu and Kashmir education minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed in Anantnag district, 55km from Srinagar on Sunday, Sep 12.

After the attack, Police fired in air and lobbed tear gas shells after on the furious mob.

Police informed, "A mob resorted to heavy stone pelting on the house of Sayeed at Damhal-Khushipora in Kokernag area."

He also stated, "A police party has evacuated the minister to safety and no one from his family was hurt in the incident."

Local Congress workers owing allegiance to Sayeed had yesterday staged protests against frequent strikes called by the separatist leaders.

However, CRPF personnel have been rushed to the spot as the tension in the region is soaring day be day.
