Hurriyat (G), Muslim league activists disturb Eid Nimaz at Hazaratbal Shrine

Srinagar, Sep 11 (ANI): Hurriyat (G) and Muslim league activists staged a protest march following Eid Nimaz at Hazaratbal Shrine here on Saturday and set fire to the Auqaf building housing the policemen and a police vehicle, according to police sources.

Timely and prompt action of the Fire service and Police, however, stopped the fire from spreading.

The mob was later dispersed. The situation is, however; tense, as some policemen have got injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was leading a procession to Lal chowk.

The administration and police is exercising maximum constraint, and have appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration.

Police sources claim that they planned in advance to provoke the administration and use the Eid congregating to disrupt festivities. (ANI)
