Assam flood: 1.5 lakhs people affected

As per reports the Lakhimpur district is the worst hit area as 15,000 people were left homeless and many villages were submerged in the water.
In neighbouring Dhemaji, 30,000 people in 60 villages were affected by swelling Siang river in Pasighat of Arunachal Pradesh, Brahmaputra, Thimen and Lali rivers in Assam.
Even the national park Kaziranga was also affected forcing the animals to come out of the park to move towards the highlands of the nearby hilly regions.
A red alert has been sounded in many villages of Sonipur district as the Brahmaputra river continues to rise.
