Rs 58,000 cr grains wasted, BJP demands probe

Navjyot Sidhu, Kirit Somaiya, Prakash Jhavdekar and many other BJP leaders recently visited FCI godowns in Kurukshetra, Karnal and Ambala.
According the party sources, in those godowns, lakhs of wheat bags were rotting in the open.
Charging the government for sheer criminal negligence on part that it has allowed Rs58,000 crores worth grains to go waste, Sidhu said that BJP now wants a parliamentary investigation into the matter.
BJP national secretary, Somaiya claimed that 180 lakh tonnes of food grains were kept in the open mostly in godowns in Haryana.
