5.0 magnitude quake hits Indonesia

Hong Kong, Sep 5: A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit Indonesia"s Papua province on Saturday, Sep 4, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

However, there were no immediate reports of damage of property or loss of life. The earthquake failed to prompt a tsunami warning too.

According to the sources, the quake occurred at 1411 GMT. The epicentre was recorded at 2.497 degrees south latitude and 138.566 degrees east longitude with the depth of 35 km, Xinhua reported.
