Large explosions kill 1, injure 3 in Baghdad

Baghdad, Sep 5: One person was killed and more than three wounded in a large explosion near an Iraqi ministry of defence complex on Sunday, Sep 5.

The explosion took place around 10:50 am near the Maidan and Bab al-Muatham districts of Baghdad. Earlier in Aug 17, 2010, a suicide bomb attacked the same site killing 59 people.

The large explosion occurred near the headquarters of Rusafa Military Command, sending plumes of smoke into the air. It was preceded by a smaller almost simultaneous explosion in the capital.
