9 killed in Mexico plane crash

Oaxaca(Mexico), Sep 4: At least six people, including two Mexican lawmakers and a governor, were killed when their plane crashed in southern Mexico on Friday, Sep 3, the attorney general's office said.

The plane left Mexico City and went down as it was approaching the airport at the Pacific beach resort of Huatulco, in southwestern Oaxaca state, the officials said.

The plane crash occurred mid-morning some 500 meters from Huatulco airport, and was caused by either adverse weather conditions or pilot error, the attorney general's office said.

The National Action Party (PAN) of President Felipe Calderon confirmed the deaths of federal lawmakers Guillermo Zavaleta and Juan Huerta.
