Vigilant driver saves passengers in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Sep 2: A major mishap on Delhi-bound Gaya Mahabodhi Express was averted as a vigilant driver applied emergency break to control the train moving at high speed, which is 10 km from Ghaziabad junction, on Wednesday, Sep 1.

The coach got derailed as technical failure occurred when the train was about to change to its track, though removal of fish plates can not be ruled out, General Manager, Northern Railway, H C Joshi said.

Following the derailment, traffic on the route was disrupted for four hours. Three Rajdhani trains and one Shatabadi Express were among those affected.

Later the train proceeded after repair and clearance of the track.
