Indonesia threatens BlackBerry over pornography

Jakarta, Sep 1: Few hours after getting an extension of two months to fix security issues from Indian government, Research in Motion (RIM), BlackBerry maker, now faces shut down threat from Indonesian government.

On Tuesday, Aug 31, Indonesian government threatened RIM to close BlackBerry service in the country if it refuses to block pornographic content. Indonesian Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring told that he had requested RIM to block adult content for its service in the country.

"If they are still not responding to our request, we have to close it down. RIM may violate our law if it remains providing porn content in its service in Indonesia," said Tifatul Sembiring.

According to the Indonesian government the banning on pornographic site on the internet is in line with the country's 2008 anti-pornography law.
