Californian golfer's swing 'triggers 12-acre blaze'
London, Sept 1 (ANI): A Californian golfer's swing is said to have sparked a fire that razed down 12 acres.
The man, whose name was withheld, tried to hit a ball out of the rough when his club struck a rock.
The fire burned 12 acres on a densely wooded hill by the Shady Canyon golf course in Irvine, California, and roughly 150 fire fighters were needed to put out the blaze.
Southern California suffers from massive wildfires sparked in parched conditions.
Orange County Fire Authority Capt Greg McKeown said investigators determined the cause of the fire after interviewing people at the scene.
"Personally, I've never responded to that call before," the BBC quoted Capt McKeown as saying.
Officials said the golfer will not face charges over the fire on August 28. (ANI)
