Nifty closes with a modest loose

Despite weak global cues, the Sensex regained more than 150 points on Aug 31.
The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 17,971.12, down 60.99 points or 0.34 percent, and the Nifty fell 13.05 points or 0.24 percent to settle at 5,402.40, after seeing recovery of 151.13 points and 53.5 points from day's low, respectively.
Mah and Mah, Ambuja Cements, ITC, Tata Motors were among the top gainers with 2.85 percent, 2.62 percent, 2.42 percent, 2.07 percent up respectively.
Jaiprakash Asso, Reliance Comm, Reliance, HCL Tech were among the top losers with 3.54 percent, 3.37 percent, 3.03 percent, 2.73 percent down respectively.

Market regains power; pvt banks up
At 3:27 hrs the Sensex was trading at 18000.52, down 31.59 points and the Nifty was at 5411.75 , down 3.70 points.
In the largecap space, Ranbaxy Labs, Mahindra and Mahindra, ITC, Maruti Suzuki and Ambuja Cements were up 1-2 percent.
Where as Jaiprakash Associates, Reliance Communications, HCL Tech, Reliance Industries and Jindal Steel were down 3-4 percent.
Top gainers on the BSE Midcap were Emami, United Breweries, KGN Industries, Radico Khaitan and Eicher Motors.
Top losers on the BSE Midcap were State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Bikaner, Rajesh Exports and Jet Airways.

Sensex extends losses; RIL, SBI slip
Nifty continued to trade below 5400 level. Heavyweights like Reliance Industries, SBI, TCS, Infosys, BHEL and L&T were the key laggards for the markets.
At 12:49 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 17855.60, down 176.51 points and the Nifty was at 5359.55, down 55.90 points.
As per the latest data, Indian economy has grown by 8.8 percent in the Apr-Jun quarter, up 8.6 percent from the last quarter.
However, buying continued in Bharti, Tata Motors, Ranbaxy Labs, Maruti and M&M. L&T and BHEL from capital goods space were down over 1 percent.

Nifty opens on negative note; SBI, RIL dip
The Nifty has started the day on a negative note following weak global cues and fall in realty, select metal, technology and financial companies' shares.
At 9:22 hrs, the Sensex was trading at 17968.99, down 63.12 points and the Nifty was at 5397.20, down 18.25 points.
TCS, Hindalco, Sterlite, Idea Cellular, DLF, Unitech, Suzlon Energy, SBI, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Axis Bank and JSPL were witnesssing selling pressure.
However, ITC, ONGC, Power Grid, Sun Pharma and IDFC were on buyers radar.
