Vodafone alerts subscribers on BlackBerry

New Delhi, Aug 28: As the deadline prescribed to the BlackBerry maker-Research In Motion (RIM) by the government of India draws near, leading mobile phone operator Vodafone on Friday, Aug 27 alerted its subscribers of a possible disruption of email and messenger services after Aug 31.

Uncertainity hovers over the future of BlackBerry services in India as the government is at the verge of banning the smartphone's encrypted services if security agencies are not given access to the data.

Vodafone's caution came in the wake of the government's statement that a solution to monitoring of BlackBerry services to address its security concerns remained elusive.

The leading mobile phone operator has promised to try and provide some solution to its subscribers.
