Assam: Abused girl moves court for justice

Guwahati, Aug 28: An eighteen-year-old girl from Assam came to Guwahati High Court to seek justice as she was abducted, raped and tortured on Jul 19.

"I went to court directly. I want justice so that this doesn't happen to other girls," said the victim.

According to sources, she was kidnapped from her home by a man who was harassing her for the last one year. She alleges that she was repeatedly raped for over ten days and threatened her not to report the incident to anyone.

It was her neighbours who got to know the news and helped her to inform to the local police. Then the police directed her to go the court. It is said that the man is still absconding.

"Many such cases shy away, the victim here showed the courage to fight for justice," said Monimala Bora a social activist.
