Chhattisgarh: Mob kills cop for killing 2 youths

Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Aug 26: Villagers killed a police constable after he gunned down two civilians under the influence of alcohol in Bakarkatta village, Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, Aug 25.

The District Force constable Ashwani Verma was killed by villagers after he shot dead two residents, Dinesh and Bhagwan, over some minor dispute. The villagers gathered together and killed the constable with sharp-edged weapons locally called as 'tangia'.

"The situation is very tense there, residents are very upset after the policeman took out his service revolver and killed two persons in their early 30s. Additional forces have reached the village and are trying to calm the protesters, who refused to hand over the cop's body to the police," said a police officer.

Rajnandgaon District Superintendent of Police BN Meena visited the village and discussed the situation with villagers and other police officials.
