Govt to take steps against armed CPM cadres in WB

On Wednesday, Aug 25, PM along with Union Home minister P Chidambaram and Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee met Mamata in his office and discussed the situations in West Bengal. In the meeting Mamata asked Centre to start peace talks with Maoists.
In the meeting, Mamata submitted a report on stockpiling of arms by CPM in the Maoist-dominated areas of Jungle Mahal and other places in Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore districts in Bengal. The report mentions details of 90 camps spread across these areas that are being run by CPM cadres, and about 3,000 to 4,000 of them being directly involved in stockpiling of arms.
"The state is using armed CPM cadres against Maoists. It has given the CPM an opportunity to use it in areas of their domination against Trinamool party workers," said Mamata.
