Taliban rejects Petraeus' claims of reversing militants' progress in Afghanistan
Kabul, Aug.25 (ANI): The Taliban has rejected commander of the NATO and US forces in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus'remarks that the allied forces have reversed the progress of the extremists in the war ravaged country.
In an email to the media, the Taliban rejected General Petraeus' statement claiming that attacks around Kabul as well as in the southern part of the country were on rise.
"Mujahideen operations have intensified more than ever especially in the provinces surrounding Kabul," the statement issued by the Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi stated.
"A day doesn't pass by but that the invaders and their stooges face immense losses in Logar, Kapisa, Maidan Wardak and Laghman," The Daily Times quoted Ahmadi, as saying.
It is worth mentioning here that General Petraeus had told the BBC last week that militants have been stopped from making any new move in their strongholds such as Kandahar and Helmand provinces. (ANI)
