Plane crash kills 43 & injures 53 in China

Beijing, Aug 25: Forty three people were killed when a plane busted into flames while landing on a runway at a new airport in northeast China on Tuesday, Aug 24 night.

The Henan Airlines plane crashed overshooting the runway and busted into flames. There were 96 people on board, in which 43 bodies of people killed been found at the site and the remaining 53 people have been taken to hospital for treatment.

The plane, Embraer 190, crashed in Yichun, a small city in Heilongjiang province, after flying from Harbin, the province's capital. Chinese media reported that the plane began to fall apart or burst into flames before it overshot the runway.

"The airplane personnel contacted the ground staff to say they could see the landing lights and requested a normal landing," said Xu Zhaojun, the Communist Party chief of Yichun.
