Lightning kills 17 & injures 12 in Bihar

Patna, Aug 25: Seventeen people, including women and children, were killed by lightning across Bihar on Tuesday, Aug 24.

The Bihar Disaster Management Department reported that 17 people killed and more than 12 people injured by lightening in the state. Bihar government announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each for victims" kins.

"Ten men, five women and two children have been killed and atleast a dozen sustained burn injuries by bolts of lightning in Bihar," said an official.

Seven deaths were reported in Nawada district, four in Nalanda, three in Sheikhpura three, two in Gaya and one in Patna district.
