yamuna river
New Delhi, Aug 24: The water level of Yamuna River crossed the danger mark due to incessant rains in Delhi and surrounding places in the last five days, but flood alert was not declared.

A senior official reported that the river has already crossed the danger mark of 204 meters following heavy rains in the capital and was flowing 11 cm above the danger mark. With the rains still continuing water levels are expected to rise further.

The authorities told that even if rising water levels breach the Yamuna's banks, only those living along the river would have to be evacuated. Some of the people living along the banks have been evacuated.
