Las Vegas, Aug 23: As the anticipation is running high days ahead of the Miss Universe pageant, Miss Philippines Maria Venus Raj has emerged as the top choice of the people of the world.

As per the the online survey conducted by The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) on the pageant's website, Maria Venus Raj has come up as the most popular public choice.

Yes, the people have spoken and they see Miss Philippines as the likely contestant to wear the Miss Universe 2010 crown.

However, the public voting will in no way affect the final outcome, which rests on the decision of the judges.

Earlier on Thursday, Aug 19 night, preliminary judges picked Top 15 candidates for the 2010 Miss Universe beauty contest, which is currently underway in Las Vegas, Nevada, US.

During the announcement of the shortlisted contestants, Miss Philippines along with contestants from Haiti, Canada, Australia, USA, Mexico, and Puerto Rico enjoyed the loudest cheers.
