Kashmir violence: Another civilian dies

Srinagar, Aug 23: Even as curfew and restrictions continued to be in place across several regions, the death toll in the Kashmir valley violence rose to 63 on Monday, Aug 23 a person injured in police firing succumbed to his injuries.

The latest victim of the violence in the valley has been identified as 22-year-old Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, who was injured last Saturday, Aug 14 in Singhpora village near Pattan town of Baramulla district during clashes between stone pelting mobs and the security forces.

"He succumbed to injuries in the hospital today (Monday) morning," a police officer said here, adding that curfew shall continue in nine police station areas of Srinagar city as a precautionary measure.

"It shall also remain in place in Sopore, Bijbehara and Pulwama towns," he added.

Besides this, restrictions continue to cripple north Kashmir's Trehgam, south Kashmir's Anantnag and some other towns in the Valley.
