Violence re-erupts in Kashmir valley, 1 killed

The incident took place on Thursday, Aug 19 when the CRPF troops of 177 battalion were attacked by the stone-pelting mob while they were withdrawing after performing their duties at Chinkipora, Sopore.
The police said that the mob threw a broken bottle at the assistant commander, SK Das, leaving him injured as well.
The situation forced the security forces to open fire. Three people were injured in the firing.
One of the injured, identified as Mudassir Ahmad, succumbed to this injuries in a hospital on Friday, Aug 20 morning.
The latest death adds to the growing death toll in the violence that has gripped the valley for the past several weeks. Heavy violence and protests have always followed the death of civilians.
