India tensed over internet security threat
An inter-ministerial meeting had been organized by the government on Friday, Aug 20 to look at various aspects of internet security.
According to sources, the main agenda of the government is to review of the internet monitoring system and secondly, a monitoring system is set to be installed at the ISP gateways.
As the sources said, the Department of Telecom (DoT) discussed recently in a meeting over the security concern regarding voice and messaging services on the Internet offered by Google and Skype in India.
Indian government already had given BlackBerry the ultimatum till Aug 31 over the security row.
BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM), had been warned that if it would not provide the encrypted message details to the service provider, India would ban the service in the country.
