India on high terror alert during festive season

The Centre has asked state governments to take all possible steps to thwart attempts by militant groups, particularly Lashkar-e-Taiba, to disrupt peace during ongoing festivals like Ramzan and the upcoming Raksha Bandhan, Idd-ul Fitr and Onam.
Onam will be celebrated on Aug 23, Raksha Bandhan on Aug 24 and Idd-ul Fitr on Sep 13.
Home Ministry asked all states to increase vigil and take precautionary measures to ensure security as Pakistan-based groups may strike at public places, informed sources.
The Ministry, especially asked states like Delhi, Karnataka and Kerala to deploy additional forces in sensitive locations.
According the sources, the Home Ministry also gave out list of potential targets and advised on what to look out for.
